JAMES T. HUNT, JR.
Experience
Mr. Hunt’s practice focuses on complex commercial and business litigation, consumer fraud litigation, casino and commercial collection law, and bankruptcy fraud matters. He has experience trying cases in New Jersey Superior Courts and federal bankruptcy courts. Mr. Hunt has significant experience in litigating business disputes and defending against Consumer Fraud lawsuits. Some of his recent successful representations include:
- Successfully obtained dismissal of Consumer Fraud Act and RICO (civil racketeering) claims against a major media and advertising company client and obtained a six-figure settlement on client’s behalf
- Successfully obtained dismissal of Consumer Fraud Act claims and breach of contract claims against a major New Jersey casino client
- Obtained a favorable jury verdict on a breach of contract claim in favor of a major New Jersey casino client
- Obtained a ruling dismissing Consumer Fraud Act claims against a large New Jersey casino at the pleadings stage
- Successfully obtained dismissal, at the pleadings stage, of a Consumer Fraud Act and fraud lawsuit filed against a major media company client and obtained a favorable settlement whereby the client, although a defendant in the case, received payment to settle the case
Prior to joining STF&H, Mr. Hunt worked for Latham & Watkins LLP, one of the largest and most prestigious law firms in the United States, where he was a litigator in the Newark, New Jersey office.
Mr. Hunt was admitted to practice in New Jersey in 1999 and is also a member of the New York bar. Mr. Hunt attended Swarthmore College and Seton Hall University School of Law, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He served as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Nicholas H. Politan, United States District Court, District of New Jersey from 1999-2001. He is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association, the Atlantic County Bar Association, and is admitted before the Third Circuit Court of Appeals. He was recently nominated to be a Trustee of the Atlantic County Bar Association.
